Shooting star

On the way into Colorado last night, Abigail saw her first shooting star! Jude tells her that "if you see a shooting star that means you're lucky". I ask "where did you hear that?" He responds "a movie!" I ask "what kind of movie?" He answers "a SCIENTIFIC movie"

Jude quote

After paying $4.79/gallon on gas, daddy drives past the next exit and sees gas for $3.63/gallon. He appropriately responded with a growl. Jude says "daddy, you're like the yellow (lello) power ranger and I'm like the gold ranger" daddy responds "isn't the yellow ranger a girl?" Jude smirks "yeah daddy, you're a girl." An important lesson for daddy. Don't growl when you're upset or you will get confused for a girl. Good to know.

Vacation!

I have neglected my blog lately. So much that I forgot to mention we were planning a vacation. Obviously I really need one. Well here it is! We are on the road now, about an hour from the grand canyon. Yesterday we went to white sands, new Mexico. And are really having a great time together. I will sporadically post pics from now on. Sorry I failed you yesterday. My bad.

Family fun Monday!

Since Adam works Fridays this month, we are having our fun day on Mondays now. Today we went to the barton creek greenbelt. We heard of an area where you hike and it leads to a swimming hole, so we adventured out to find it.

It was so much fun! The water was clear, and cool (which was appreciated after a 20 minute hike).

Afterwards we went to huts hamburgers and enjoyed a milkshake after our fabulous meals.

before I forget

Micah is almost out of this phase of his life, but I want to document it so I never forget.

He wears EVERYTHING backwards.

He hasn't put his underwear on the right way EVER.  They're either backwards, inside out, or (usually) backwards and inside out.  His shirts are usually not inside out, but usually backwards.  His pants, even!  Back pockets in the front (Kris Kross style).  haha.  I love it.  It's SO Micah.

That picture was taken about a year ago, but it captures so much about Micah. I never thought I would forget these little quirks about my kids.  And then they grew out of them, and I forgot!  Well, not this time.

The kids thought we needed to add life to our old rusty black mailbox. I think it perfectly represents our beautiful family. Colorful, abstract, and eccentric. :)

Family Fun Friday!

What a busy day!!  We packed in a lot today, and managed to have fun while doing it!  First, we went to the wooden playscape in Georgetown.  I managed to snap some pics of them there, so I'll share those.  While we were there, we wrangled up some new friends and played police officer/criminal.  Micah was the police officer and everybody else was the criminal.  (basically a glorified version of chase/ hide and seek)  I was Micah's "partner" and we wrangled 'em all up.  (we even spoke like cowboys).  I have no pictures of Jude at the park, since he was CONSTANTLY running and hiding like a criminal would.  He was sneaky, that one...

 THEN, we ate dinner, played some wii, and headed off to our sweet sister in Christ's graduation.  YAY AUDRIANNA!  I'm so proud of her.  She has overcome much to get here, and she has such a great future ahead of her!

 Another great Family Fun Friday.  I love my family, and am so glad we're taking time to have special days together.  I hate to admit it, but if we didn't set this time aside, I'm not sure I would be as intentional about it.  It's the best part of my week.  By far.  :-)
