Some people...

A man just yelled at my boys. Yelled. Made them cry.

I am trying my hardest not to yell back at him.

Jerk.

Texas

Growing up, I was never really an outdoors kinda girl. I rode my bike, choreographed dances in my front yard, and laid out in the sun. But I spent most of my time watching tv, dancing inside, or talking on the phone.

Now that I have kids, I appreciate the outdoors so much more. My kids are active kids. They would rather be outside any day. This morning, I dragged my feet out of bed before the sun came up and didn't want to be awake. So I turned on toy story and laid on the couch. I wasn't really tired anymore, but I didn't want to do anything yet. Well, I opened the window beside me, and just the smell of the dew woke me up. The kids all got dressed and headed outside. We're about to do school outside now.

I never truly appreciated living in a state where my kids can play outside 10 months of the year. So, this is my version of a thank you note. I'm so blessed by God's creativity. He rejuvenates me through his natural beauty and design. Thank you Lord.

If I weren't already married

I would marry my son Jude.

He came to show me that he changed the screen saver on his ipod. He was so proud.

He gave me a big hug with his smile all crooked and tight, and said "i wanted to see you all the time cause you're so pretty and I love you."

Melts. My. Heart.

Impulsive

If you know me well, you will not be surprised by this post. If you are just getting to know me, here is the true definition of me:

I ripped up the carpet in my living room today and deep cleaned the cement underneath. All because the living room was messy. Also, I was really tired of posting embarrassing videos of ny kids rolling around on that nasty carpet. Now they'll just have bruises everywhere!

Usually, to get a really good cleaning, I rearrange all my furniture. But this time I took it a bit far. But boy does it feel good.

The video in the last post is in my new living room before it was finished.

It feels so good.

Beavers

Abigail has a stomach bug so she gets to lay in the office and watch anything she wants. She chose a documentary about beavers. The other kids immediately said they felt sick too so they could watch it also. So we are making a family night out of it.

Netflix is the best.

My favorite things

crisp spring days
the blooms on the bradford pear in my front yard
when the sun peeks out from behind dark clouds (reminds me of how God's light is always brighter than the darkness, even when the darkness seems really dark)
typing
stretching with my elbows down in a lounge
family, duh.
strawberry and honey greek yogurt
starbucks triple filtered water
autumn
sea world
different colors

when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad... I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad.

Go apd!

We responded to a call where 3 different people called in saying they saw a car trying to take a woman at the bus stop. We were enroute and it became a high speed chase! We weren't a part of the chase, we were looking for the victim. Unsuccessfully. But apd quickly got the car stopped and arrested them! Very quickly. They put down stingers (pokey things) on the road and popped his tires. He's gonna be in jail for a while.

Good job Austin police!

I picked an exciting night to be out here!

Thanks to amazing family and friends willing to watch the kids, I get to ride out with a sexy police officer for the night!

First call: man falls asleep at the wheel and parks on tree in neighbors yard.

This is going to be an interesting night. oh, and my camera isn't working so you don't get to see how sexy this officer is. just trust me. he's a hunk.

Talent Show

To finish off Family Fun Friday, we had a talent show for each other.  Our family has talent shows often.  They love the opportunity to laugh with one another and get applauded.  Here are a few snippits of the talent in our family.  :-)

Abigail showing her flexibility.
Jude says this is called "Exercise Dancing".  Whatever it is, it makes me tired just watching it.  Yes, he is beat boxing while dancing.  Triple threat- beatbox, dance, exercise.
Micah singing "If You're Happy And You Know It".  This was his second talent.  His first was Break Dance Fighting.  It was pretty similar to Jude's, so I posted this one instead.  Plus, look how cute he is!
Annalie doing many things.  I think her purpose was to try to throw the ball.  But she ended up doing a whole lot of other things in there, too.  Gah, she's cute.

*side note: anybody know how to get my sideways videos flipped the right way???*

Baby doll

I worked last night, which means somebody else put my kids to bed. Last night it was daddy. And daddy put Annalie in Abigail's bed. So when Abbie got home from dance with me, she was ecstatic to find out she got to sleep with her sister! I snuck in her room to see this.

No, that's not a baby doll.

And no, it's not at all posed.

I realize this is probably the most boring video ever. But I am posting it to show documentation of the day I realized my boy Jude is big. He didn't stop smiling the whole ride. I have tears in my eyes. He was so proud of himself and I just can't express how precious he is to me.

Lord, prepare me for the day I have to let go of my children. The thought is unbearable to me.

FAMILY FUN FRIDAY

I am supposed to take pictures every hour on Fridays...
Looks like I'm off to a poor start.

I woke up this morning at 9:45 to pancakes and eggs in bed. What an amazing way to start my day! Then dragged my feet for a while and now we're off to Austin's Park and Pizza.

I'm going to enjoy my day with my amazing family. If I post pictures, awesome. (and You're welcome) If not, I will do the picture on the hour thing tomorrow.

war

Watching a documentary about America today for history class. *side Note: my kids retain everything they learn from movies, so we spend our car trips learning. They love documentaries!* So back to my reason for writing.

We are on our way to dance class for Micah. Every Thursday we pick up my niece Addison. *side Note: Addison loves our car trips together so much that she just wants to giggle and play with Abigail, so usually I take the movie out or pause it. But today, the kids were really into it and addy told me she wanted to watch it. Her interest in it lasted about 30 seconds.* I look back and Abigail is whispering to Addison about how her daddy has been in lots of wars and how he's a hero. She looked so proud of him. My heart melted.

How sweet that she sees her daddy as such an honorable and heroic character.

He is.

Primates

Teaching 6-8 year olds I was curious to see if anybody knew what I had been teaching Abigail today in school. (I'm Always curious about these things)

Does anybody here know what a primate is?

Um is it a book?

No, but here's a hint: it's a type of animal.

Oh. Ummmm.... No. But I do know what heely's are and I want some.

Pms

Weird. I haven't had legitimate pms in over 7 years. Now it is upon me again and I totally forgot how crazy it is.

Cramps... I feel like I'm in early labor constantly. No breaks. Just cramps.

Mood swings... Hahahahaha. I thought post-partum was bad.

Bloating... Why can't I suck in!? I just want to pretend I'm skinny and my body won't let me.

There's more, but I won't go there for the sake of the easily nauseated.

Is it weird I'm excited about menopause?

Abandoning your children

This is nauseating.  Talk about selfishness.  "I realized that by being so nurturing, I was in some ways keeping my children from growing to their potential."  so.... I'm going to do the opposite of nurture them and leave them.

I do agree, that if we neglect ourselves we may become in denial and think we're giving our children what's best for them, but we aren't.  It is important to evaluate who you are and what you need in order to be the best influence on your children.  I am amazed that she felt she needed to go to such an extreme.

She says in this interview "whoa, I did that thing that I didn't want to do.  Which was give up my life for someone else."

From my understanding, that is the true definition of love.  So it baffles me that she thinks she's being a better mother for her children by loving them less.  It's selfishness and nothing else.  SELFISH!  This makes me want to nurture my children even more and show them how, even though they may fail me, I will always love them and ALWAYS be here to give to their needs.  I am unable to love them in my own strength, because I, too, am selfish.  But how blessed I am to have the help of our Almighty God, who has shown us what love truly looks like, and helps us love like Him.

I am truly nauseous right now.  I feel so sad for our world.  For the lies we believe.  We need to spend some serious time in prayer, asking God to show us how to best LOVE our neighbors.  Not just our husband, or our children.  Sometimes it isn't the way we idealize love to be, but I am positive it is always defined as selfless.

Pomplamoose

I mentioned Pomplamoose in an earlier post, but wanted to give you the link to find them easily.  Because they are that good.  So much talent.

Random

I need you to know that nbc has amazing comedies.

30 rock, community, parks and recreation, the office, snl, jimmy fallon. Geez!

Also, teaching dance is awesome. However, I feel really old.

Also, pomplamoose is amazing. I wish we were friends. If you don't know pomplamoose, check them out on YouTube.

I saw a bumper sticker today on a semi that said "with out trucks, America stops" and although I admit i thought it should've said "without trucks, America sucks" because of the rhyme, the sticker was true. Semi trucks are our modern day railroad. Without them, China would be our boss.

I love sleeping so much, but only in the morning. I have a hard time going to bed at night. That sure is convenient with young children.

I hate swim suits. I wish we wore old school swim suits. Why is it ok that women wear less clothes than lingerie to swim? And I have to look at it. Worse, my husband has to look at it. Gross. Way to make me insecure summer!

The end
